Cartozian Rick Trejo Mayor Mayor Pro Tem Absent PRESENT:Planning Commissioners: Michael Murray Stephen Allen Roger Brossrner Terry Lambros Jeff McCaughan Chairperson Vice-Chairperson Absent Absent ALSO PRESENT:Gilbert Livas, Deputy City Manager/Community Development David Blumenthal, Senior Planner William Davis, Business Development Manager Shion Hori, Assistant Planner Yara Fisher, City Consultant 1.STUDY SESSION/WORKSHOP: DISCUSSION AND REVIEW OF DRAFT ZONING CODE. Staff presented the new draft zoning code to the City Council and Planning Commission. During the presentation, staff reviewed the proposed changes to the commercial and industrial zones, and introduced the new mixed use and public zones. Additionally, staff reviewed the proposed changes to the standards for drive-in businesses, lighting, and landscaping. During the discussion, the Council IVbmbers and Commissioners gave the following direction to staff 1. Standards to address graffiti should be created 2. Areas for the Mixed-Use zone should focus around public transit 3. In referring back to the R-3 standards, the code should address the “canyon effect’, which is typically created by the long driveway in the middle of two multi-family buildings.
