I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY ESTABLISHING
WATER, SEWER, AND AB 939 RATES FOR THE CITY OF DOWNEY AND REPEALING
RESOLUTION NO. 6379.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds that pursuant to Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines (14
California Code of Regulations, Section 15378) that CEQA is not applicable to the approval of the rates and
charges set forth herein because such rates and charges are for the purpose of:
(1 )Meeting operating expenses, including employee wage rates and fringe benefits and
departmental operations;
(2)
(3)
(4)
Purchasing or leasing of supplies, equipment or materials;
Meeting financial reserve needs and requirements;
Obtaining funds for capital projects necessary to maintain a service within existing
servIce areas.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 3 of Article VII of the Downey Municipal
Code, the City Council hereby establishes the following water rate schedule:
(1)Water Usage – For water furnished through water meters:
Per 100 cu. ft

Per 100 cu. ft.
$0.834 (1st 12 consumption units, or 8,976 gals.)
$1.041 (13 consumption units to 32,700 consumption units, 75 acre-feet)
$1.541 (32,701 consumption units and above)
(2) Water Meter Charge
In addition to water usage charge, each water customer shall pay the following
bi-monthly charge based on meter size:

SECTION 3. Water customers who use reclaimed water shall receive a 20% discount
on the water schedule shown in Section 2

SECTION 5. Fees for the state mandated recycling program, AB939 Solid Waste Reduction,
shall appear on the bi-monthly water bill as follows:
Single family detached unit, bi-monthly water bill
Other properties, per unit, by-monthly water bill

SECTION 6. Resolution No. 6379 adopted June 27, 2000, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and provide for
appropriate distribution thereof.
