Mr. Dickow announced that the library received their glass shelving display case and the first exhibit during the
holidays would be the Carpenters. He explained that the reason for having the Carpenters was because the Library
was approached by an author writing a new book on the Carpenters that is being released in mid October. He
mentioned that the author would like to do a book signing and he advised to be • the lookout for the announcement
as the author had not given a date, yet.

Member Saavedra shared that she loves that the front desk has great flyers for upcoming events and she promotes the
flyers in her Little Library. She suggested President Yoshiyama to possibly share the flyers with other Little
Libraries to promote events.

Member Mr. Dickow explained that for the policies there would be a discussion and address any questions at large, then at the
end, collect each board members packet with their written comments or questions.

Member Da Silva inquired if the library collaborated with the Braille Institute. Mr. Martin answered that the library

responded that SCLC was the Local Consortium of Southern California which is the local neighboring libraries. Mr.
Martin explained that prioritizing SCLC libraries over interlibrary loans was short timed. He continued explaining

Dickow answered that the amount was because of the plaque, and having the plaque was on debate to have it
displayed or not. He added that most nonprofits, museums, and institutions were doing a digital board and for the
sake of policy, the library did not have that capability, so the amount of $500 would stay as is. However, he stateii,
that once the library digital r•. • the amount for donations could change from 1 to $500.
Chair Mathis asked about Monetary Donations, if honorary and memorial donations get labeled into a particular
book. Mr. Dickow responded that when the Rotary has a speaker, they donate a book to the library, the speaker gets
to sign the book plate and then the book goes on the library shelf

Member Saavedra commented on the selection of Processing Donations, stating that having a specific time frame in
years for donations was helpful in having a criteria, as they have received many donations. Mr. Martin responded
that the Friends could discuss among themselves and once the policy got approved, they could condensed a bulleteii
list to make a flyer and post the flyer on the Friends website as well as the Library's website.
Member Saavedra inquired on the drinks that are allowed for patrons to bring in the library. Mr. Martin responded
that only drinks with lids are acceptable and no food was allowed. Mr. Dickow informed that if a drink was
unattended, a staff would dispose of it.
Chair Mathis questioned if a patron's photo in the Circulation Policy had to be updated annually. Mr. Martin

any change to their account. He continued by stating that if a patron had a dramatic change in a year, an updated
photo could be requested.
Mr. Martin answered that currently the library had not seen to much traffic in them and patrons could call in the day

Chair Mathis asked if the policy packet needed to be turned in. Mr. Dickow responded that if the packets had

policies were to be approved. Mr. Dickow answered that the City Attorney approves everything, then the packet
gets returned to the Library Advisory Board to vote on the whole packet and the City Council has the last approval

Member Hayes inquired about a place that shreds items and pays for the service being used. President Yoshiyama
responded that the Friends have a bin in the back of the library where they dump books that the Friends cannot sell
and the company weighs the amount to give them money.
