1. The minutes of September 21, 2021 were unanimously approved. Member Da Silva motioned for approval and
member Perri seconded the motion. By unanimous consent, the minutes were approved.

such request. Mr. Dickow informed that there is a copy of all interlibrary loan information and a flowchart at the
front desk of the library.
Mr. Dickow informed that the library has a subscription with the Los Angeles Times Newspaper. Unfortunately, he
shared that the LA Times has had a terrible way of delivering the newspaper a few days later of the actual date. Mr.
Dickow stated that the library has been in dialogue with the LA Times for several years in regards to their delivery
time frame.
Friends of the Downey City Library (FODCL) Report:

2021 and sales from September 2018 to September 2021. She reported bookstore sales were $2,006.09 in August
2018 and $1965.12 in August 2021. In September 2018, bookstore sales were $2,478.36 and $1,642.85 in
September 2021.
President Yoshiyama informed that the two positions open for the FODCL Board are the Program Director and
Fundraising Director. She explained that the Program Director role is to look for guest speakers, and the Fundraism,t,4
Director usually checks • local restaurants. President Yoshiyama shared that the next fundraiser may be at
Frantone's Pizza and Spaghetti Villa. She mentioned that the FODCL were just waiting for the restaurant to finalize
their yes. President Yoshiyama announced that fundraising restaurants are always on the third Wednesday of the
month. Member Perri questioned if the Fundraising Director position required attendance for the 10:00 a.m.
meetings. President Yoshiyama answered that attendance was required for the meetings and explained that the board
bylaws states 3 absences results in being taken out of position.
President Yoshiyama reported that the FODCL received a check in September from Amazon Smile in the amount of
$57.66. The FODCL September Silent Auction raised $200.00. She stated that looking forward to restaurant
fundraising, the FODCL are looking at Yolys Restaurant • Gallatin Road and Ichiban on New Street.

President Yoshiyama mentioned that the FODCL continue to receive books and magazine. She shared that
magazines were doing good in sales as well as the books.

Board Member Comments:
Member Da Silva inquired about the need of volunteers for the event of Dfa de los Muertos. President Yoshiyama
mentioned that the FODCL list was filled. Mr. Dickow communicated that for the event of October 23, 2021,
Claudia Dailey was the main lead and point of contact for volunteers.
Member Perri shared that on October 9, 2021 was the City Day of Service. She communicated that she took a group
• people to clean the side patio and 14 bags of trash were picked up. Mr. Dickow commented that the area looked
great and thanked Member Perri.
Member Perri inquired about getting a price itemized list for the Children's Area Wish List. Mr. Dickow responded
that he would get her the list.
President Yoshiyama informed that the FODCL had a Non-Event Fundraiser and stated that about $1 500.00 was
raised. She mentioned that the money received would help Ms. Dailey get items from the Children's Area Wish
List.
