Written Communications:
1. The minutes of January 19, 202 1, February 16, 2021 , and March 16, 2021 were unanimously approved. The
minutes of April 20, 2021 were unanimously approved with the amendment of item 94. Member Perri motioned
for approval and Member Hayes seconded the motion. By unanimous consent, the minutes were approved.

[a Library Advisory Board— Minutes for May 18, 2021
Chair Mathis questioned where the revisions stand for the library policies. Mr. Dickow answered that policies we
with the City Attorney, returned to the library for changes, and are still in the works as the library opened. I
President Yoshiyama announced that the membership director would be resigning after June. She shared that the
Friends have three positions that need to be filled. However, President Yoshiyama informed that there was a lady
who was interested in one of the position and may be a potential.
President Yoshiyama stated that the Friends meet every second Friday of the month at 10: 00 a.m. She mentioned
that the Friends were meeting through Zoom, and shared that for the month of May, they met in her backyard.
President YoshigAama does hol%e to start meeting in the librai#A Cormack room instead of findi - %lace to meet, She
informed that in June, the Friends would start having their annual elections for the new board members and most of
them would be returning.
Chair Mathis advised that the Friends can perhaps have limit of donations when they start accepting them. President
Yoshiyama responded that she will note the advice. Member Saavedra shared that she would gladly accept any
children's books. Mr. Martin commented that he has received three to four calls in regards to the Friends setting up
a table with books like they had in the past, to then sell a bag for $5 and fill the bag up with as many books. He
shared that President Yoshiyama might want to consider taking the idea to the Friends board members.

charges Member Perri inquired about what the use of the Cormack Room was for. Mr. Dickow responded that for the
moment, the use of the Cormack Room was just for the library and for department meetings from Downey City Hall.
Also, he mentioned that when gatherings are allowed, the Con-nack Room would be a public space with a fee that
it every hour.

Member Perri questioned if anyone received a letter from the city that needed to be submitted by June 1, 2021 , Mr.
Dickow mentioned that the letter was the Code of Conduct letter. Member Saavedra shared that she dropped her
letter off at Downey City Hall, the letter got time stamped and she received a copy.

Member Perri inquired about what the goal was for fundraising. President Yoshiyama responded that the Friends
