On March 27, 2020, the Governor issued Executive Order N-37-20 imposing a statewide, moratorium on evictions of residential tenants impacted by COVI D-1 9 who are unable to pay rent. The Executive Order expired on May 31, 2020. In its place, the Governor, on May 29, 2020, extended his Executive Order N-28-20 authorizing local governments to adopt their own local regulations to temporarily suspend evictions of residential tenants impacted by COVID-19 effective through July 28, 2020. Since the statewide moratorium has expired, the Council may discuss and provide direction, if any, with respect to adopting a temporary moratorium on evictions of residential tenants unable to pay rent due to COVI D- 19. wg, • w 0 =m onmm At a special meeting on April 2, 2020, the City Council adopted Urgency Ordinance No. 20- 1438, which established a 3-month repayment period (following the City Council's termination of the Local Emergency) for tenants of single family residences and multi -family dwelling units affected by the COVID-19 pandemicto repay rents in arrears. If no action is taken bythe City Council, Ordinance No. 20-1438 continues in effect until the exoiration of 3 months after the Council's termination of the Local Emerqencv.
