X0 2) Take no action. At a special meeting on April 2, 2020, the City Council adopted Urgency Ordinance No. 20- 1438, which established a 3-month repayment period (following the City Council's termination of the Local Emergency) for tenants of single family residences and multi -family dwelling units affected by the COVID-1 9 pandemic to repay rents in arrears. If no action is taken by the City Council, Ordinance No. 20-1438 continues in effect until the expiration of 3 months after the Council's termination of the Local Emerq@Dc In the alternative, Council Member Ashton proposes to amend the Urgency Ordinance that instead proposes a repayment schedule for residential tenants to repay rents in arrears as follows: . M • During the period March 18, 2020 and June 15, 2020: six (6) months from the date the Local Emergency is terminated to repay rents in arrears; or • During the period June 16, 2020 and July 16, 2020: nine (9) months from the date the Local Emergency is terminated to repay rents in arrears; or • On July 17, 2020 or any time thereafter: twelve (12) months from the date the Local Emergency is terminated to repay rents in arrears. The Council is requested to discuss the matter and provide the City Attorney with direction, if any.
