CALL TO ORDER: Public Works Committee Chair Cotaya called the meeting to order at 4:08 P.M. II. CONSENT CALENDAR: Committee Member Uva made a motion to approve the Minutes of the May 16, 2019 meeting. The motion was seconded by Committee Member Frey. The Minutes were approved as written. III. OLD BUSINESS: None. IV. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Presentation of FY 2019-20 Capital Improvement Program Mr. Norris gave a presentation of the FY19-20 Capital Improvement Program. Mr. Norris highlighted on recently completed key projects, goals and funding pertaining to the streets and traffic categories. Other upcoming projects were also discussed. Mr. Mueller discussed existing and upcoming water, sewer and stormwater utility improvement projects at different areas in the City. V. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS 1. Traffic Signals on Old River School Road and Laura Street, Downey Avenue and De Palma Street, Adwen Street and Old River School Road, are these signals timed or sensored? These signals are equipped to detect the cars present on various approaches to the intersection and at times detection is defective, staff will investigate. MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE June 20, 2019 Page 2 2. Pot holes – On/off ramps on Erickson to Imperial Hwy. 3. Sidewalk – difficulty getting out of car due to overgrown weeds next to the post office on Myrtle west side and an alley parking lot behind Joseph’s Rest. between 2nd Street and Firestone Blvd. across the street from Country Inn. 4. Non-functioning street lighting at Firestone Blvd. and Downey Ave. – will all be replaced soon. 5. West bound Firestone Blvd. – 3rd lane from Downey Avenue to Old River School Road. - will be reconstructed soon. 6. Concrete bus pads funding? – no available funding at this time. VI. STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Updates were given on the following: 1. Civic Center Drive & 3rd Street Pavement Rehabilitation Project – will start soon. 2. Paramount Blvd. between Firestone Blvd. and Imperial Hwy Street Repair Project - under construction. 3. Residential Street Repair Project, Districts 1 and 2 - 4. Traffic signal at the intersection of Alameda Street and Downey Avenue, all red signal on both directions has been completed. VII. NEXT MEETING: July 18, 2019 The Public Works Committee meeting was adjourned at 5:40 P.M.
