ABSENT Commissioner Aragon, Micaela Commissioner Brossmer, Blake Commissioner Carrillo, Jaylean Commissioner Iniguez, Andrew Commissioner Kozhaya, Nicolas Commissioner Mongan, Nathanie Commissioner Ned, Sade Commissioner Nevarez, Andrew Commissioner Vera, Adrian Commissioner Hernandez, Liliana Commissioner Kozhaya, Andrew Commissioner Montanez, Jasmine Commissioner Rodriguez, Jacqueline Commissioner Zepeda, Paula Also present, Staff Laison Vaniah De Rojas and City Clerk Alicia Duarte. I. CONSENT CALENDAR • None to approve 11. WELCOME • Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas introduced herself to the Commission and discussed the transition of the Downey Youth Commission. 111. NON -AGENDA PUBLIC COMMENT No Speakers IV. OATH OFFICE • City Clerk Alicia Duarte conducted the Oath of Office of the Downey Youth Commissioners who were present. • Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas reviewed the recently updated Downey Youth Commission guidelines. VI. ELECTION PROCESS • Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas discussed the Youth Commission Election Process and stated the election will occur at the next meeting. VII. MEETING DATES AND AGENDA FORMAT REVIEW • Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas discussed the Youth Commission meeting dates for the year, and stressed the importance of communicating who will be attending. Ms. De Rojas also stated the agenda format for the meetings have been updated to reflect the goals of the Downey Youth Commission guidelines. VI11. CIVIC GOVERNMENT EDUCATION Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas reviewed the City of Downey Organizational Chart. City Clerk Alicia Duarte provided a presentation on the Brown Act and shared information as to what the City Clerk's Office oversees. 11A_1114;4tti:11:2CAN 41[41:2 �,1=11!i� Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas reviewed upcoming City Council meetings and volunteers opportunities. Various Commissioners signed up for the Pumpkin Patch event. X. YOUTH ISSUES/COUNCIL PRIORITIES • Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas discussed upcoming projects. Commissioners Aragon and Mongan discussed a possible mentoring event involving TLC. Commissioner Neri discussed a possible mental health event. Staff Liaison Vaniah De Rojas stated the projects will be discussed at the next meeting. • A training was provided by Anabel Ortega — Community & Voter Outreach Representative from the LA County Registrar — Recorder/County Clerk's regarding the pre -register to vote event that the Youth Commission will oversee. • Various Commissioners volunteered to participate in this event. XI. STAFF COMMUNICATION • The Youth Commissioners were reminded of the next meeting. New Youth Commissioners were asked for their shirt sizes in order for the order to be placed. X11. ADJOURNMENT • The meeting was adjourned at 5:32 p.m.
