03. CIP 19-09-Award Contract-Sequel Contractors, Inc-Firestone Blvd Pavement Rehab
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 19-09 FIRESTONE BOULEVARD PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROJECT SEPTEMBER 24, 2019 PAGE #2 reconstruction of failed pavement areas, including cold milling of asphalt pavement; removal and re -construction of roadway structural section and placement of an asphalt concrete leveling course and asphalt rubber hot mix (ARHM) overlay. In addition, damaged curb and gutter, and local depressions will be repaired. On September 12, 2019, the City Clerk received and publicly opened seven bids ranging from $167,510 to $279,870. Seal Beach CA $279,870 The lowest responsive and responsible bid, in the amount of $167,510, was submitted by Sequel Contractors, Incorporated of Santa Fe Springs, California (Attachment C). Sequel Contractors has satisfactorily completed similar projects for the Cities of Bellflower, La Canada, Orange and Pico Rivera. Its references have been checked and were satisfactory. Sequel Contractors' State of California contractor's license is current and active. Finally, Sequel Contractors and its subcontractors are registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations under the Public Works Contractor Registration Program for Labor Compliance. Staff recommends that the City Council award a contract to Sequel Contractors, Incorporated for the Firestone Boulevard Pavement Rehabilitation, Capital Improvement Project No. 19-09. Construction is anticipated to begin in November 2019 and be completed in December 2019.
