SUBJECT: APPROVE THE CITY OF DOWNEY'S 2ND ANNUAL EMERGENCY
PREPAREDNESS FAIR

In support of National Preparedness Month (September), the City of Downey is hosting
the 2na Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair to encourage residents to better prepare
themselves and their families for emergencies. Last year, the event welcomed over 700
participants. This year, due to construction in the Civic Center, staff recommends the
use of Calvary Church's parking lot (12808 Woodruff Ave, Downey, CA 90242) to host
the 2nd Annual Fair. The event will not involve any public street closures. Maps are
attached for review. The proposed event will be on Saturday, September 28, 2018 from
6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to allow staff time for set up, breakdown and clean up.
