CONSUNJI, P.E., DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY E/ DATE: AUGUST 13, 2019 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF WORK• DRIVE AND HALL ROAD WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS .,, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT• 19-18 That the City Council: Accept work for the Civic Center Drive and Hall Road Water System Improvements Capital Improvement Project No. 19-18; 2. Approve the final construction contract amount of $414,680; and 3. Authorize the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to file the Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office. r i, On February 26, 2019, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized advertising for bids for the Civic Center Drive and Hall Road Water System Improvements. The project limits were on Civic Center Drive from Brookshire Avenue to Third Street and on Hall Road from Bellflower Boulevard to Woodruff Avenue. On April 9, 2019, the City Council awarded a construction contract for this project to All Cities Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $376,982. Work commenced on May 20, 2019 and was completed on July 24, 2019. The water improvements included the installation of water mains, valves, and associated fittings; replacement of existing fire hydrants; installation of additional new fire hydrants where adequate fire water protection was lacking; new copper water services; and replacement of old water meters with advanced water meters to improve water meter reading efficiencies. During construction, additional work beyond the original scope of the project resulted in two contract change orders and a net decrease in contract quantities in the total amount of $37,698. The final construction amount was $414,680. The additional work included, but was not limited to, abandonment of an old, undersized water main on Bellflower Boulevard; additional potholing requested by the City; replacement of additional water service lines, meters, and fire hydrant; and completion of associated asphalt and concrete work. All work was completed in accordance with the approved project plans and specifications. The project was funded by Water Fund Capital Improvement Program Account No. 51-1-8687.
