FOR THE WILDERNESS PARK PONDS — WILDLIFE RELOCATION NO. That the City Council: Award a contract, in the amount of $70,500.00 to United Storm Water, Inc. for the Wilderness Park Ponds — Wildlife Relocation Project, CIP No. 15-21 B, and 2. Authorize the Assistant City Manager to execute any change orders or additional scope of work for this project deemed necessary or desirable up to 10% of the construction contract amount. At its meeting of May 14, 2019, the City Council approved the scope of work and related specifications and authorized solicitation of bids for the subject project. On May 16, 2019, and May 23, 2019, the Notice Inviting Bids for this project was published in the Downey Patriot. 101 6ioil • On May 24, 2019 an addendum was issued providing answers to questions by potential bidders. On May 30, 2019, the City Clerk received and publicly opened one (1) bid in the amount of $70,500, submitted by United Storm Water Inc., of the City of Industry as shown on Attachment A. Staff has confirmed that United Storm Water, Inc. possess the specified contractor license and that the license is current and in good standing. Additionally, verbal qualification interviews with randomly selected United Storm Water, Inc.'s references were completed and the responses were all satisfactory. Below is a summary of the scope of work, implementation schedule and other relevant data related to each project component: Wildlife Relocation •Coordinate with domestic and wildlife bird rescue organizations for transportation and adoption or release AWARD'A CONTRACT TO UNITED STORM WATER, INC. FOR THE WILDERNESS PARK PONDS WILDLIFE RELOCATION PROJECT (CIP NO. 15-21 B) JUNE 11, 2019 PAGE 2 • Coordinate with turtle rescue organizations for transportation •Coordinate with bird and turtle sanctuaries for un -releasable wildlife • Work closely with Water and Sludge Removal Specialist to ensure animal, fish, and bird safety *Aerate ponds to ensure fish safety as the water levels drop • Food for waterfowl •Food and antifungal medicine for turtles and possible quarantine *Fish seining and removal All permits related to above activities Staff respectfully requests that the City Council award a contract in the amount of $70,500 to United Storm Water, Inca for the Wilderness Park Ponds — Wildlife Relocation Project. Work will start on August 12, 2019 and will be complete on September 27, 2019. The Estimated Project Cost Summary is attached to this report (Attachment C). Quality of Life, Infrastructure & Parks The total estimated cost of the project, including work by United Storm Water, Inc. contingencies, inspection, engineering and management is $82,550.00. The City's 2018-20 Capital Improvement Program Wilderness Parks Improvements Project utilizing grant funds from San Gabriel Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RCM) and Habitat Conservation Fund, as well as the $200,000 matching fund from its General Fund (Account Nos. 26-1-7706-0520 and 40-1-7706-0520).
