CIP 19-16-Accept Work for Replacement of Chiller Coils at Columbia Memorial Space CtrAPPROVED BY MANAGER TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY FROM: OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER BY: DELFINO CONSUNJI, P.E., DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY E&4 DATE: MAY 28 2019 SUBJECT: ACCEPT WORK FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF CHILLER CONDENSER COILS AT THE COLUMBIA MEMORIAL SPACE CENTER, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 19-16 That the City Council: 1) Accept work for the replacement of Chiller Condenser Coils at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, Capital Improvement Project No. 19-16, 2) Approve final construction contract amount of $36,157, and 3) Authorize Public Works Director to file the Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office. On August 14, 2018, the City Council awarded a contract for the replacement of condenser chiller coils at the Columbia Memorial Space Center (CMSC) to F.M. Thomas Air Conditioning, Inc. in the amount of $32,637. The total estimated project cost was $37,500, including contingencies in the amount of $4,863. The project included removal of deteriorated chiller condenser micro coils and appurtenances al the CMSC. Because of scheduling conflicts with programming at the CMSC and long lead time in delivery of condenser coils, start of maintenance work was delayed. The project started on March 16, 2019 and all work was completed on April 3, 2019. One change order was approved in the amount of $3,520 to cover the additional cost for materials and supplies.
