That the City Council: 1. Accept the Police Station Improvement Project — North Parking Lot Reconstruction — Capital Improvement Project (CIP) No. 19-38 as complete; and 2. Approve the final construction contract amount of $230,356.00; and 3. Authorize the Notice of Completion to be filed with the County of Los Angeles Recorder's Office. On January 8, 2019 the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the subject project and granted authority to advertise for bids. On February 12, 2019 the City Council awarded a construction contract to PALP, Inc. dba Excel Paving Company in the amount of $213,300 for CIP No. 19-38. I •, PALP Inc., dba as Excel Paving Company started the project on March 11, 2019. Work including relocation of existing perimeter fencing and installation of additional fencing, reconstruction and construction of concrete curb and gutter as well as asphalt concrete pavement, modification to existing irrigation and landscaping and other miscellaneous related work was completed on March 29, 2019. During the course of construction, it became necessary to modify a section of a masonry wall and, add new wrought iron fence and shepherd crook security bar. The total cost of extending the section of fencing was $4,031.00, which was addressed through contract Change Order No. 1. The necessary addition of 115 square feet of sidewalk and widening of the concrete gutter was handled through Contract Change Orders Nos. 2 and 3 in the amount of $4,525.00. Change Order No. 4 in the amount of $8,500.00 ACCEPTING THE COMPLETION OF POLICE STATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - NORTH PARKING LOT RECONSTRUCTION - CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 19-38 MAY 14, 2019 PAGE 2 accommodated the necessary addition of 140 square feet of sidewalk and the accompanying wrought iron fence and gate modifications. The total cost of construction is $230,356.00. The project's total cost including construction, other site improvements, design, inspection, construction engineering, contract administration is $242,810.00 (please see Attachment A) Construction work, including the original scope of work, as well as change orders No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, has been completed in a satisfactory manner. As such, it is recommended that the City Council accept the Police Station Improvement Project — North Parking Lot, CIP No. 19- 38 as complete, approve the final construction cost of $230,356.00, and authorize the Notice of Completion to be filed with the County of Los Angeles Recorder's Office. Efficiency & Adaptability Quality of Life, Infrastructure & Parks 19 W-11 I =i .7-1 Tell The City's Fiscal Year 2018-2019 budget includes funding for this project in the amount of $279,960.00 from Measure S Capital Improvement Program Funds (Account No. 33-1-3302- 0520). The total cost of the project is $242,810.00, leaving a balance of $37,150.00 which will be reallocated to the Measure S Capital Improvement Funds (Account No. 33-1-3302-0520).
