RECOMMENDATION
1. Accept the completion of the Fire Stations Modernization Project/Temporary Fire
Station — Capital Improvement Project (CIP) No. 19-37; and

3. Authorize the Notice of Completion to be filed with the County of Los Angeles

On January 8, 2019, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the
r,ubject project and granted authority to advertise for bids. On February 12, 2019, the
City Council awarded a construction contract to All American Asphalt Corporation in the
amount of $207,307 for CIP No. 19-37.
All American Asphalt Corporation started the project on March 11 � 2019. Work including
grading of the existing site, installation of a water line, and sewer line, as well as
placement of miscellaneous pavement base materials and asphalt pavement, and other
miscellaneous related work was completed on March 29, 2019. During the course of
construction, it became necessary to expand the project's scope to accommodate the
Library interim storage and office space. The total cost for this change was $18,500.00,
which was addressed through contract Change Order No. 1. The necessary relocation
of a K -rail, removal and disposal of discovered transite pipe, discovery of unmarked
utilities, extension of sewer lateral and water service and connections, along with a

credit for material substitution was handled through Contract Change Orders Nos. 2-4 in
the amount of $23,887.49.
The total cost of construction is $249,694.49. The project's total cost including
construction, other site improvements, design, inspection, construction engineering,
contract administration is $289,964.49 (please see Attachment A) Construction work,
including the original scope of work, as well as change order No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and
No. 4, has been completed in a satisfactory manner. As such, it is recommended that
the City Council accept the Fire Stations Modernization Project/Temporary Fire Station
Project, CIP No. 19-37 as complete, approve the final construction cost of $249,694.49,
and authorize the Notice of Completion (Attachment B) to be filed with the County of
Los Angeles Recorder's Office.

Quality of Life, Neighborhood & Infrastructure
The City's Fiscal Year 2018-2019 budget includes funding for this project in the amount
of $300,000.00 from Measures Capital Improvement Program Funds (Account Nos.
33-1-3301=0520, 33-1-3312-0520, 33-1-3313-0520, 33-1-3314=0520, and 33-1-3303-
0520). The total cost of the project is $289,964.49, leaving a balance of $10,035.51
which will be reallocated to the Measure S Capital Improvement Funds (Account Nos.
33-1-3301-0520, 33-1-3312-0520, 33-1-3313-0520, 33-1-3314-0520, and
33-1-3303-0520).
