That the City Council:
Accept the Safety Lighting Improvement Project Adjacent to the 1-5 Freeway
between Fairford Avenue and Cecilia Street, Capital Improvement Project No. 15-
13, as complete;
2. Approve the final construction contract amount of $56,538; and
3. Authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to file the Notice of Completion
with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office.
On October 9, 2018, the City Council authorized implementation of the Safety Lighting
Improvement Project Adjacent to the 1-5 Freeway between Fairford Avenue and Cecilia Street
including procurement and installation of city -furnished materials. Additionally, the City Council
authorized the City Manager to execute a project contract agreement in a form acceptable by
the City Attorney. On December 11, 2018, the City Manager executed a construction contract
with Elecnor Belco Electric, Incorporated in the amount of $56,768. Work commenced on
December 12, 2018 and was completed on January 2, 2019.
This project installed 19 City -furnished decorative pedestrian light poles, LED lighting fixtures
and footings, underground conduits, pull boxes, and conductors. The City -furnished decorative
pedestrian light poles and fixtures were previously removed from Lakewood Boulevard,
converted from existing 100 -watt metal halide fixtures to energy-efficient 30 -watt LED fixtures
and re -painted through contract services.
The project has been completed and staff recommends that the City Council accept the project
as complete.

The final cost of the construction contract, including base contract amount and net decrease in
contract quantities is $56,538. The total final cost of the project is $86,688, which includes
design, City -furnished materials, construction, inspection, engineering and contract
administration and painting.
