Accept the completion of the Independence Park Improvement Project—Construction of Futsal Courts, Capital Improvement Project (CIP) No. 17-15; and 2. Approve the final construction contract amount of $ 518,195.24; and 3. Authorize the Notice of Completion to be filled with the County of Los Angeles Recorder's Office. On May 8, 2018, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the subject project and granted authority to advertise for bids. On October 9, 2018 the City Council awarded a construction contract to NR Development, Incorporated in the amount of $479,500 for the Independence Park Improvement Project Construction of Futsal Courts-CIP No. 17-15. F6TPTqF9P • NR Development, Incorporated started the project on November 15, 2018. Work, including construction of three (3) new futsal courts and installation of sports field light standards, chain- link fencing and other amenities, was completed on December 18, 2018. During the course of construction, it became necessary to install concrete gutter and sidewalk in the area between the existing tennis courts and the new futsal courts to alleviate drainage problems in an area of the tennis courts. Moreover, additional work involving regrading of a designated area of the park to accommodate a softball practice field was completed by the contractor. The total cost of new concrete improvements and additional grading was $ 30,849.94, which was addressed through contract Change Order No. 1. The necessary relocation of existing electrical conduits and pull boxes in conflict with the new courts was handled through Contract Change Order No.2 in the amount of $7,845.30. The total cost of construction is $ 518,195.24. The project's total cost including construction, design, inspection, construction engineering, contract administration, and purchase of ACCEPTING THE COMPLETION OF Ii t •PROJECT CONSTRUCTION OF •'PROJECT IMPROVEMENTCAPITAL i JANUARY 22, 2019 PAGE 2 equipment including sports field light standards, futsal court goals and :site furniture is $607,350.78(please see Attachment A). Construction work, including the original scope of work, as well as change order No. 1 and No. 2, has been completed in a satisfactory manner. As such, it is recommended that the City Council accept the Independence Park Improvement project -Construction of Futsal Courts CIP No. 17-15 as complete, approve the final construction cost of $ 518,195.24, and authorize the Notice of Completion to be filed with the County of Los Angeles Recorder's Office. Efficiency & Adaptability Quality of Life, Infrastructure & Parks The City's Fiscal Year 2018-2019 budget includes funding for this project in the amount of $674,519, consisting of $399,519 from the General Fund (Account No. 40-1-6728), and $275,000 from Measure S Capital Improvement Program Fund (Account No. 33-1-3370-0520). The total cost of the project is $607,350.78, leaving a balance of $ 67,168.22, which will be reallocated to the Measure S Capital Improvement Fund (Account No. 33-1-3370-0520).
