SUBJECT: USE OF SHO WMOBILE FOR DO HIGH SCHOOL KIWIN'S FOR WALK
FOR WATER EVENT
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council approve the fee waiver for use of the Showmobile at the Walk for Water
event sponsored by the Kiwin's at Downey High School.
The Walk for Water event will raise funds to build a well for a developing country. There will al
be a Water Conservation Fair at Downey High School. i
The Downey High School KIWIN'S with the support of the Downey Kiwanis Club will partner
with Thirst Project, a non-profit organization whose aim is to bring safe drinking water to
communities around the world where it is not immediately available. They are also joining forces
with Downey High School and Division 13 Kiwanis Clubs to host a Walk for Water. There will
also be a Water Conservation Fair (Value of Water) in which the Downey Green Task Force and
several water conservation organizations will set up information booths for the public. The
events will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Downey High School.
There are a few goals for the event: raise money to build a well in a developing country, provide
clean water to families in desperate need, and educate the public on the value of water
including conservation.

Labor costs for the delivery of the Showmobile during regular business hours on Friday,
February 8th and the disassembly and pick-up on Saturday, February 9.h, are approximately
$800 to be charged to account 10-4-3145. The standard equipment rental rate revenue is $434,
bringing the fee waiver to $1,234.

Kiwanis an KIWIN'S help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, care for the
sick, build playgrounds, and much more.
