Accept Miscellaneous Project No. 334 — Downey Avenue and Mitla Avenue Valve Repair Project as complete; 2. Approve the final construction contract amount of $54,500; and 3. Authorize the Director of Public Works to file the Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office. 7&9M1Mr•JZ Existing water valves at Downey Avenue and Stewart and Gray Road as well as Mitla Avenue south of Firestone Boulevard were in need of repair to ensure that the City is able to continue to provide reliable water service. Due to the repair nature of the water work, the project was informally bid on November 7, 2018. On November 27, 2018, the City Council awarded a construction contract for this project in the amount of $48,000 to Williams Pipeline Contractors, Inc. On December 5, 2018, work commenced and was completed on December 14, 2018. The water improvements included the repair/replacement of valves and associated fittings and appurtenances. During construction, additional work beyond the original scope of the project resulted in one contract change order, in the amount of $6,500, which is within the original project budget approved by City Council on November 27, 2018. The additional work included the removal and replacement of an additional fitting and water valve at the intersection of Downey Avenue and Stewart and Gray Road as well as the removal and replacement of an additional valve at Benares Street which was impacted by the work at Mitla Avenue. The project has been completed and staff recommends that City Council accept the project as complete. The total project cost is $55,300, which includes the cost of material testing. The project is funded by Water Fund Capital Improvement Program Account No. 51-1-86' (Attachment A).
