SUBJECT: STREET CLOSURE REQUEST — CITY OF DOWNEY'S INTERNATIONAL FOOD
AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council authorize a street closure for the City of Downey's International Food and
Music Festival event scheduled for Saturday, September 15th
from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The
event will feature local restaurants, food trucks, festival attractions, three stages featuring live
entertainment, family fun zone, photo booth area and beer garden. The International Food and
Music Festival is on Downey Avenue and 3rd Street between the following intersections:
• Downey Avenue @ 2nd Street
• Downey Avenue @ 3rd Street
• Downey Avenue @ 4th Street
• 3rd Street @ New Avenue
• 3rd Street to end of south parking lot entrance of US Bank
DISCUSSION
For the City of Downey's International Food and Music Festival, staff recommends closing
vehicular access to the locations described. A map is attached for your review.
The proposed closure will be from 5:00 am Saturday, September 15, 2018 to 3:00 am on
Sunday, September 16, 2018, at to allow staff time for set-up, breakdown and clean-up. No
Farmer's Market will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Vendors have been notified in
addition to the public notification in the Parks & Recreation Guide.

FISCAL IMPACT
The anticipated cost for Police staffing and Public Works street closure support has been
included in the Downtown Events budget (10-4-4322*) for FY 18.19
