ADOPTING THE CLASSIFICATIONSPECIFICATION
COMPENSATON FOR THE POSITION OF i
UTILITIES
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget includes funding for one full-time non-
exempt Assistant Civil Engineer I position in the Utilities Division of the Public Works
Department,
WHEREAS, the position of Assistant Civil Engineer I is upgraded to a non-exempt
Associate Civil Engineer - Utilities classification to be more reflective of the scope of duties and
responsibilities being performed,
WHEREAS, to maintain the City's Classification Plan, compensated positions in the
classified service of the City require a classification specification that includes employment
standards and qualifications,
WHEREAS, the classification of Associate Civil Engineer — Utilities is determined to be
appropriately represented by the Downey City Employees' Association — Miscellaneous Unit
with pay established at the same range as currently in effect for Associate Civil Engineer.

HEREBY RESOLVE i i
SECTION 1. The classification specification for Associate Civil Engineer - Utilities,
attached hereto, and by this reference is hereby adopted.
SECTION-- 2. The Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget is changed to reflect one full-time
Assistant Civil Engineer I upgraded to Associate Civil Engineer — Utilities with sufficient funding
in the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department.
SECTION 3. The following pay range shall take effect to coincide with the start of the
pay period following City Council adoption of this resolution as follows:
Associate Civil Engineer - Utilities 01-283 $6,133.07 -$7,597.83/monthly
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
