CALL TO ORDER: Committee Chair Frey called the meeting to order at 4:04 P.M. II. CONSENT CALENDAR: Committee Member Halbmaier made a motion to approve the Minutes of the August 17, 2017 meeting. The motion was seconded by Committee Member Gendreau. The Minutes were approved as written. III. OLD BUSINESS: None. IV. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Presentation of FY 2017-18 Capital Improvement Program Mr. Norris gave a presentation on the FY 2017-18 Capital Improvement Program and discussed goals for FY 2017-18. Mr. Mueller gave a presentation on Utilities Division Capital Improvement Program for FY 2017-18. MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE September 21, 2017 Page 2 V. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS Committee Member Gendreau asked if bike lane road diet implementation could be repealed/removed after implementation if not desirable. Mr. Mostahkami provided reasoning for bike lanes but did say that ultimately the City Council could remove by vote if desired. Committee Member Halbmaier inquired if speed feedback signs could be installed in the vicinity of Donovan St. and Downey Ave. due to speeding motorists when school’s let out. Committee Member Gendreau asked about the water coming from one of the well sites near Old River School Road and Firestone Blvd. Mr. Mueller explained that this flushing was part of an on-going well rehabilitation process that would be ending shortly. VI. STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Updates were given on the following: 1. Shellyfield Rd/Cecilia St. Preferential Parking District - the City Council tabled and continued the item indefinitely until staff can come back with solutions to the concerns brought up by the residents at the meeting. A special Public Works Committee meeting may be scheduled between now (September) and the next meeting in October. 2. Brookshire Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project – starts on Monday, Sept. 25th. The northerly half is from Firestone Blvd. to Florence Ave. The southerly half, from Imperial Hwy to Gardendale St., will be restriped as a road diet with bike lanes. The remainder of Brookshire Avenue from Imperial Hwy all the way to Florence Ave. is going to be designated as a bike route and signs only will be posted. 3. ADA Transition Plan – a draft of the plan will be completed by the end of the month. VII. NEXT MEETING: October 19, 2017 The Public Works Committee meeting was adjourned at 5:48 P.M.
