HomeMy WebLinkAboutGTF Minutes 2017-6-26 Green Task Force June 26, 2017 Downey City Hall – 2nd Floor Training Room 11111 Brookshire Ave., Downey CA 90241 I. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:06 p.m. by Vice Chair Ronnie Fernandez. Members Present: Haley Guerra, Karina Madariaga, Manuel Salas, and Chair Fernandez. Members Absent: Vice Chair Gaytan Staff: Guillermo Arreola, Senior Planner II. CONSENT CALENDAR: None. III. OLD BUSINESS: IV. NEW BUSINESS: 1. The Committee was in favor in creating an Ad-Hoc Committee tasked to craft a Green Task Force (GTF) informational pamphlet. Staff Liaison Arreola suggested that the pamphlet include a Mission Statement and Goals. Member Guerra stated that the pamphlet should include a list of achievements. Chair Fernandez stated that the Green Task Force Mission Statement was already complete. Member Guerra suggested adding a link to the City of Downey website for meeting times and dates. Member Salas stated that he had experience with designing pamphlets and would like to participate in the creation of the informational pamphlet. Member Madariaga proposed an option as to how the pamphlet could be organized. Group discussion ensued, with the pamphlet including the following information:  First page of the pamphlet should include the City logo and GTF logo.  Second page should have mission statement, goals, objectives, achievements;  The pamphlet should also include contact information, meeting dates and times, meeting location, large City events.  The group agreed to an October 23, 2017 completion date for the GTF pamphlet. GREEN TASK FORCE MINUTES, JUNE 26, 2017 Nominations took place to create an Ad Hoc Committee to craft the Green Task Force pamphlet. Chair Fernandez nominated Member Guerra. Member Guerra accepted. Member Madariaga nominated Member Salas. Member Salas accepted. V. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS: Stella Ursua, Strategic Partnership Manager for Grid Alternatives, a non-profit organization, would like to partner with the Green Task Force to help promote the GTF and Grid Alternatives. Chair Fernandez suggested Grid Alternatives provide after-school solar programs for job development. Ms. Ursua asked if the City of Downey is part of the Compact of Mayors. Member Guerra asked the following:  Can the GTF partner with Grid Alternatives to promote the Grid Alternatives programs?  Can Grid Alternatives be on the Green Task Force page on the City of Downey website? Staff Liaison Arreola stated that he would research the questions. VI. GREEN TASK FORCE COMMUNICATIONS: Member Guerra suggested continuing to communicating the Green Task Force message. Chair Fernandez will be collaborating with other stakeholders and attending the Keep Downey Beautiful meetings. VII. STAFF COMMUNICATIONS: None. VIII. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
