I. CALL TO ORDER:
Committee Chair Frey called the meeting to order at 4:10 P.M. Ms. Carrie Uva and Ms. Hellen Carcamo were introduced as newly appointed Public Works Committee members
representing Districts 1 and 4, respectively.
II. ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Chair Frey opened the nomination and election of new Chair and Vice-Chair. Chair Frey
was nominated and unanimously re-elected as Chair and Mr. Don Lamkin as Vice-Chair.
III. CONSENT CALENDAR:
Committee Member Gendreau made a motion to approve the Minutes of the November
17, 2016 meeting. The motion was seconded by Committee Member Huerta. The Minutes were approved as written.

V. NEW BUSINESS:
1. Presentation of the Downtown Parking Study Draft Report
Mr. Schindler introduced Ms. Julie Dixon of Dixon Resources Limited who in turn gave a
presentation on the Downtown Parking Study Draft Report. Discussion followed.
VI. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS
1) Stewart & Gray Rd. and Patton Rd. water leak
2) Check clogged storm drains in time for the rain
VII. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS
1. Old River School Road and Firestone Bl. – painted median does not allow left turns.
Mr. Norris responded that Old River School Road will be resurfaced soon, brand new
striping will be installed.
2. Florence Ave. and Arrington intersection, accidents continue to occur at this intersection. Staff will look into other options.
VIII. STAFF COMMUNICATIONS
Updates were given on the following:
1. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations were installed at the following:
2 civic center
1 Library
1 Downtown Parking Station
1 Barbara Riley Sr. Center
2. Bellflower and Imperial Hwy Intersection Project is still on-going.
3. Traffic Signal Upgrades Project at nine intersections will be completed in April.
4. Concrete repairs in District 4 is nearing completion.
5. Residential streets resurfacing will start soon.
6. Lakewood Blvd. Phase 3C (Gallatin Rd. to Telegraph Rd) –
construction is scheduled to begin in July 2017.
7. Old River School Road Rehabilitation Project (between Imperial Hwy and
Arnett) – scheduled to advertise for construction in May 2017

8. Sewer Lift Station northeast part of the city is almost done. Should be completed by mid to late March.
9. Water Improvement Project on Brookshire Ave. (Gardendale to Imperial Hwy and
Firestone to Florence) bid opening today – start of construction in late March.
10. Existing regulations for water conservation was extended until October 2017.
11. City consultant currently reviewing accessibility ADA requirements of all city streets and facilities except fire stations.
12. Update on Measure M and Pavement Management System.
13. Florence Avenue (Studebaker Rd.- Orr and Day Rd., Santa Fe Springs) reduced to
one to two lanes in each direction while the I-5 bridge is being demolished.
