CITY OF DOWNEY - PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
August 21, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER: The Committee Chair, Patricia Kotze, called the meeting to order at 4:10 P.M.
II. CONSENT CALENDAR: Committee Member Vergara made a motion to approve the Minutes of the July 17, 2014
meeting. The motion was seconded by Committee Member Lamkin. The vote was
unanimously in favor thereof.
III. OLD BUSINESS:
Public Works Committee Chair Kotze made a comment regarding the two-hour signs on
Downey Avenue between Firestone Boulevard and 2nd Street. Unless one looks at the
curb, people wouldn’t know that there is a 20-minute parking zone in the middle of this block. She suggested maybe remove the two-hour parking limit signs and replace with
20-minute parking limit signs.
Committee Member Vergara inquired about a group of residents who recently requested a parking restriction on their block for street sweeping. Mr. Norris replied that signs were already posted on Parrot Street.
