WHEREAS, the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board
( "SELACO WDB ") is a private, nonprofit organization serving the workforce development needs
of individuals and businesses throughout the southeast Los Angeles County area which include
the Cities of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood and Norwalk;
and,
WHEREAS, the SELACO WDB works in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor,
California Employment Development Department, CalWorks, and other social service and
community -based organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the primary mission of the SELACO WDB is to stimulate employment
development and promote the growth of local business by assisting employers in their efforts to
maximize the value of their workforce, increase productivity, and promote efficiency through
training and education; and,
WHEREAS, over the past 33 years, the City of Downey has shared a valued relationship
with the SELACO WDB,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey continue its partnership with
the SELACO WDB.`
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of June, 2016.
