HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 08-26-14 Adjourned Regular MeetingMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING REGULAR DOWNEY SUCCESSOR AGENCY MEETING AUGUST 26, 2014 Mayor /Chair Vasquez called to order an Adjourned Regular Meeting and Regular Successor Agency Meeting at 5:37 p.m., August 26, 2014, in the Council Chamber of the Downey City Hall, 11111 Brookshire Avenue, Downey. PRESENT: Council Members /Board Members: Fernando Vasquez Mayor /Chair Luis H. Marquez Mayor Pro Tem/Vice -Chair Roger C. Brossmer Mario A. Guerra Alex Saab ALSO PRESENT: Gilbert Lives, City Manager Yvette M. Abich Garcia, City Attorney John Oskoui, Assistant City Manager /City Treasurer Adria M. Jimenez, CMC, City Clerk PUBLIC COMMENT Mayor /Chair Vasquez opened the meeting for Public Comment. Having no one come forward, Mayor /Chair Vasquez closed Public Comment. APPROVED CLOSED SESSION MINUTES: August 12, 2014: Administration. It was moved by Council Member /Board Member Saab, seconded by Council Member /Board Member Guerra, and unanimously carried, to approve the minutes. RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION The Council /Successor Agency recessed to Closed Session (5:37 p.m.) to discuss matters under the authority of the following sections of the Government Code: 1. Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1) -Conference with Legal Counsel -Existing Litigation: City of Cerritos, at al. v. WRD, LASC Case No. BS128136. 2. Government Code Section 54956.8 — Conference with real property negotiator: City Manager Gilbert Livas and Community Development Director Aldo E. Schindler re: Property at 11911 Woodruff Avenue, Downey CA: Negotiating Parties: John and Annice Lin; Under Negotiation: Price and Terms. 3. Government Code Section 54956.8 — Conference with real property negotiator: City Manager Gilbert Livas and Community Development Director Aldo E. Schindler re: Property at 11140 Downey Avenue, Downey CA: Negotiating Party: Domenico Napoli; Under Negotiation: Price and Terms. City Council Adjourned Regular Meeting /Downey Successor Agency Meeting Minutes of August 26, 2014 1 4. Government Code Section 54956.8 — Conference with Real Property Negotiators: Successor Agency Executive Director /City Manager Gilbert Livas and Director of Community Development Aldo E. Schindler re: Successor Agency /City of Downey -owned property located at 9066 Firestone Boulevard, Downey CA: Negotiating Party: FVDD, LLC, Yanki Greenspan; Under Negotiation: Price and Terms. RECONVENED /RECESSED The meeting reconvened in open session at 6:50 p.m. with all Council Members present, and immediately recessed at 6:51 p.m. The meeting reconvened in open session at 11:04 p.m. and immediately recessed to Closed Session. RECONVENE AND ANNOUCE CLOSED SESSION ACTION The meeting reconvened in open session at 11:20 p.m. City Attorney Abich Garcia announced that for Item No. 1 the City Council received a status report. Item Nos. 2 and 3 the City Council received a report and gave direction to its real property negotiators. Item No. 4 the City Council /Successor Agency received a report and gave direction to its real property negotiators.
