HomeMy WebLinkAboutMins-PWC-06-19-14 MINUTES CITY OF DOWNEY - PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE June 19, 2014 I. CALL TO ORDER: The Committee Chair, Patricia Kotze, called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. II. CONSENT CALENDAR: Committee Member Blanca Pacheco made a motion to approve the Minutes of the March 20, 2014 meeting. The motion was seconded by Committee Member Kent Halbmaier. The Minutes were approved as written. III. OLD BUSINESS: Committee Member Joan Frey updated the committee regarding the on-street parking issue involving the “green” 20-minute time-limited parking zones on Downey Avenue between 2nd Street and Firestone Blvd. as well as the “yellow” commercial loading zone on the south side of 2nd Street immediately east of Downey Avenue and the committee’s recommendation to the City Council. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Presentation of Fiscal Year 2014/15 Capital Improvement Program Mr. Norris and Mr. Mueller gave a Powerpoint presentation on the Fiscal Year 2014/15 Capital Improvement Program. V. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS Committee Member Frey provided clarification from the comment she made at last month’s meeting regarding the northbound left turn from Lakewood Blvd. onto westbound Gallatin Rd. Specifically, the queue in the northbound no. 1 lane on Lakewood Blvd. at times extends beyond the length of the northbound left-turn pocket and subsequently blocks the entrance to the left-turn pocket. VI. STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Norris provided a brief summary of the Tour de Downey cycling event held on June 14, 2014. VII. NEXT MEETING: July 17, 2014 The Public Works Committee meeting was adjourned at 6:00 P.M.
