OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
JUNE 6TH, 1963
8:00 A.M.
The City Council of the City of Downey held a regular adjourned
meeting in the Council Chamber of the Downey City Hall, Mayor Pro -
Tempore Hollis M. Peavey presiding.
PRESENT: Councilmen: Morton, Temple, Peavey
ABSENT: Councilmen: Skinner, Corbin
ALSO PRESENT: Oren L. King, City Manager
Don Robison, Sr. Administrative Assistant
Della Doyle, City Clerk
Alberta Pfeiffer, Deputy City Clerk
It was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Morton
and so ordered that the minutes of the meeting of May 28, 1963, be
approved as written.
The City Clerk read the following correspondence:
An invitation from the Downey Museum of Art to Council to attend
the 6th Annual Art Unlimited Festival, awards reception to be held on
Friday, June 14, 1963, at the Downey Museum of Art. Ordered received
and filed.
ORDINANCE NO. 226
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY AMENDING SECTION 2722 OF THE DOWNEY MUNICIPAL
,^ CODE TO PROVIDE FOR THE CLOSING OF MUNICIPAL OFFICES
ON LINCOLN DAY
The ordinance was read by title only. It was moved by Councilman
Temple, seconded by Councilman Morton, and so ordered that further
reading be waived.
It was moved by Councilman Morton, seconded by Councilman Temple
and passed by the following vote that Ordinance No. 226 be adopted.

RESOLUTION NO. 1189
A RESOLUTION OF THECITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR
OF A MEMBER TO THE LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD

Temple, seconded by Councilman Morton and so ordered that further read-

Councilman Morton requested that a letter of appreciation be
sent to Rev. Rodney V. Cogswell for his years of fine service on
the Library Advisory Board.
RESOLUTION NO. WS -345
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND
SPECIFYING THE FUNDS OUT OF WHICH THE SAME ARE
TO BE PAID ( #25735 - #26094 $94,551.41)

Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Morton and so ordered
that further reading be waived.

The City Manager submitted a report and recommendation from the
Personnel Advisory Board relative to reclassification of Michael Fox
as Senior Maintenance Man to that of Maintenance Foreman.
It was moved by Councilman Morton, seconded by Councilman Temple
and passed by the following vote that the reclassification of Michael
Fox as recommended by the Personnel Advisory Board, be approved.

RESOLUTION NO. 1192
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY APPOINTING MICHAEL FOX MAINTENANCE FOREMAN
The resolution was read by title only. It was moved by Councilman
Temple, seconded by Councilman Morton and so ordered that further read-
ing be waived.
It was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Morton
and passed by the following vote that Resolution No. 1192 be adopted.

Councilman Morton reminded Council that the following persons will
be visiting from the City's Sister City of Guadalajara, Mexico:
Governor and Mrs. Gil Preciado and Mr. and Mrs. Jorge Agnesi
Councilman Temple suggested that these citizens from the City of
Guadalajara be presented certificates of honorary citizenship of the
City of Downey.
There being no further business to come before Council, the meeting
adjourned at 9:00 A.M.
