A summation of the bids on the Florence Avenue Fire Station was presented
by City Manager King. Mr. King read a letter from Stiglbauer Bros. requesting
that their bid be withdrawn due to the fact that they misinterpreted the bid
form and had not added the $4500 for site development to their bid of $44,995
which resulted in a total bid of $49,495. Mr. King read a letter from architects
Anthony and Langford recommending that the Council approve the withdrawal of
Stiglbauer's bid. City Manager King recommended that the contract be awarded
to the second bidder, Deck & Moody, in the amount of $46,417.95 including con-
struction of the station and site development.
It was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Stamps and so
ordered finding that there was a mistake in the bid of Stiglbauer Bros., the
apparent low bid, that for them to be held to the contract would impose on them
a hardship and cause a loss; that on that basis it would not be in the best
interests of the City to award the contract to Stiglbauer Bros. and that they
be permitted to withdraw their bid as requested.
It was moved by Councilman Dunnum, seconded by Councilman Temple and
passed by the following vote that the bid of $46,417.95 be accepted and contract
awarded to Deck & Moody for the construction of the Fire Station on Florence
