HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes-01-25-58-Regular Meeting2f�2 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY HELD JANUARY 25, 1958 The City Council of the City of Downey held an adjourned meeting in the Council Chambers of the Downey City Hall at 9:00 A.M. on January 25, 1958. Mayor Dunnum presided. PRESENT: Councilmen: Giddings, Temple, Dunnum, Stamps ABSENT: Councilman: Peavey ALSO PRESENT: Personnel Advisory Board: Bert DuMars, Chairman Charles R. Wheeler Charles D. Woodworth Oren L. King, City Manager Glenn Kendall, Assistant City Manager Della Doyle, City Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dunnum and immediately turned . over to Chairman of the Personnel Board, Bert DuMars, who gave a comprehensive review and resume of the Personnel Rules and Regulations as presented by the Board. After a full review of the Rules and Regulations as presented, the Council gave their tentative approval, including the recommendation that those employees immediately responsible to the Council and also all Depart- ment Heads be placed upon an administrative merit basis and their positions be classified as "Special" under pay plan. Council also recommended that reviews of these "Special" classifications be made by the City Manager, the Personnel Board, and the Council on an annual basis, prior to the adoption of the budget. It was requested by the sub - committee under the Public Safety Committee that members be appointed from the Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Realtors to work with the Traffic Division of the Public Safety Committee. The Mayor so ordered. It was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Giddings and passed that the Transportation Committee be given an official status. Mem- bers now serving are: Mrs. Mignon Caughran, Mr. George Wood, Mrs. Doris Larson, Mrs. Kathleen Wills, Mr. James Bean, Mr. James Patterson, Mr. R. 0. McMahon, Mrs. Violet Vaughn, Mrs. Opal Copley (Secretary), Mr. Murray Kramer (Chairman). There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12 :10 A.M. CITY 1'
