HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes-10-15-57-Adjourned MeetingMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY HELD OCTOBER 15, 1957 The City Council of the City of Downey held an adjourned meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Downey City Hall, Mayor Peavey presiding. PRESENT: Councilmen: Giddings, Stamps, Temple, Peavey ABSENT: Councilman: Dunnum ALSO PRESENT: Oren L. King, City Manager Glenn Kendall, Assistant City Manager Della Doyle, City Clerk After some discussion regarding the Rose Float Association, it was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Giddings, and passed by the following vote that the action taken at the meeting held on October 14, 1957, be rescinded. AYES: 4- Councilmen: Giddings, Stamps, Temple, Peavey NOES: 0- Councilmen: ABSENT: 1- Councilman: Dunnum Councilman Dunnum took his place at 5 :30 p.m. October 15, 1957. It was moved by Councilman Stamps, seconded by Councilman Giddings, and passed by the following vote that the City Council would support the Rose Float Association only upon following provisions: 1. That the Rose Float Association Charter be amended to include a Board of Directors consisting of eleven (11) Directors to be chosen as follows: Chamber of Commerce (Appointed by Chamber) 1 Jr. Chamber of Commerce (Appointed by Jr. Chamber) 1 City Councilmanic Districts (Appointed by Councilmen) 5 Present Rose Float Directors 3 To be chosen by the other Directors 1 11 2. That the City Attorney approve or amend Charter and By -Laws to conform. 3. That the new Board of Directors approve design, engineering, and financing of the float. AYES: 5 Councilmen: Dunnum, Giddings, Stamps, Temple, Peavey NOES: 0 ABSENT: 0 RESOLUTION NO. 165 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 110 OF SAID CITY, THE SALARY RESOLUTION (CITY MANAGER). The Resolution was read in full. It was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Dunnum, and passed by the following vote that Resolution No. 165 be adopted. AYES: 5 Councilmen: Dunnum, Giddings, Stamps, Temple, Peavey NOES: 0 ABSENT: 0 There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
