HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes-07-17-57-Regular Meeting1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY HELD JULY 17th,1957 The City Council of the City of Downey held an adjourned meeting with the Board of Directors of the Downey City School District in the Council Chambers of the City Hall at 7: 30 P.M. on July 17th, 1957. Mayor Peavey presided. PRESENT: Councilmen: Dunnum, Temple, Stamps, Peavey ABSENT: Councilman: Giddings ALSO PRESENT: Oren L. King, City Manager Glenn Kendall, Assistant City Manager Della Doyle, City Clerk After some discussion regarding the school building now occupied by the school administrative offices and leased, in part, by the City of Downey as a City Hall, it was recommended that each interested party obtain an appraisal of the property to ascertain a fair selling price, at which time there will be another joint meeting to discuss the possibility of the City of Downey purchasing said property. It was moved by Councilman Temple, seconded by Councilman Dunnum, and passed by the following vote that the City Manager be authorized to obtain a professional appraisal of the property located between Brookshire and Dolan, 2nd Street and to the center of 3rd Street, and owned by the Downey City School District so that the possible purchase of said property can be further discussed. AYES: 4 Councilmen: Dunnum, Temple, Stamps, Peavey NOES: 0 ABSENT: 1 Councilman: Giddings. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:20 P.M. i City Clerk
