18, 1957
The City Council of the City of Downey held a special
meeting in the Council Chambers of the Downey City Hall at 7:00
A.M. on April 18th, 1957 with Mayor Stamps presiding.

Carroll M. Dunnum, Hollis M. Peaveys
James L. Stampst Scott E. Temple.
Edwin W. Giddings.
Also present: Oren L. King, City. Manager

RESOLUTION NO. 65
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DOWNEY ACKNOWLEDGING THE RECEIPT OF A COPY
OF NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CIRCULATE PETITION
FOR THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS
"TELEGRAPH ROAD - SANTA ANA FREEWAY ANNEXATION"
OF AN AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION THEREOF AND
APPROVING THE CIRCULATION OF PETITION.
At 7:08 A.M. the resolution was'read in full, Councilman
Temple moved, Councilman Peavey seconded and it was carried by a
roll call vote that said Resolution be adopted as Resolution No.
65.

The City Manager presented demands No. 141 thru 142 for the
Council *s consideration. It was moved by Councilman Dunnum, se-
conded by Councilman Temple, and unanimously carried that the City
Council$ after audit of demands 131 thru 142 finds and determines
that the demands are proper and the total amount thereof does not
exceed the income and revenue for the year in which the indebted-
ness was incurred, but that there are not sufficient funds present-
ly available for their payment, and the same shall not be approved
for want of funds. The City Clerk shall endorse upon the demand
the fact that the demand has been audited by the City Council and
not approved for want of funds.
AYES: 4 COUNCILMEN: Dunnum, Peavey, Temple, Stamps.
NOES: 0 COUNCILMEN:
ABSENT: 1 COUNCILMAN: Giddings.
The City Manager announced in conformance with the State Code
for Legal Holidaysq the City Offices will be closed from 12:00 to
3:00 P.M. on Good Friday,
Councilman Peavey asked that there be an investigation made
to determine the possibility of opening Bluff Road, that is now
closed into the area now serving some 250 homes. There is now
only one street open into the entire island.area.
Councilman Dunnum requested that Councilman Handbooks be ob-
tained for the Council members.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
7:20 A.M.
