HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes-03-18-57-Regular Meeting54 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY HELD MARCH 18th, 1957 The City Council of the City of Downey held an adjourned meeting in the Council Chambers of the Downey City Hall at 5:30 P.M. on March 18th, 1957 with Mayor Stamps presiding. PRESENT: COUNCILMEN: Dunnum, Peavey, Temple, Stamps. ABSENT: COUNCILMAN: Giddings. Also present: Glenn Kendall, Acting City Manager Oren L. King, City Manager - Elect Della Doyle, City Clerk The City Manager presented Demands No. 93 thru No. 102 for the Council's con- sideration. It was moved by Councilman Dunnum, seconded by Councilman Peavey, and unanimously carried that the City Council after audit of Demands 93 thru 102 finds and determines that the demands are proper and the total amourit thereof does not exceed the income and revenue for the year in which the indebtedness was incurred, but that there are not sufficient funds presently available for their payments, and the same shall not be approved for want of funds. The City Clerk shall endorse up- on the demand the fact that the demands have been audited by the City Council and not approved for want of funds. .BYES: 4 COUNCILMEN: Dunnum, Peavey, Temple, Stamps. NOES: 0 ABSENT: 1 COUNCILMAN: Giddings. The City Manager presented bids for automobiles. It was moved by Councilman Peavey, seconded by Councilman Dunnum and unanimous- ly carried that the City Manager be authorized to accept the lowest and best bid of $2118.18 and purchase one Ford Custom 300 from Graham Ford, Inc. AYES: 4 COUNCILMEN: Dunnum, Peavey, Temple, Stamps. NOES: 0 ABSENT: 1 COUNCILMAN: Giddings. Mr. Oren King presented a resume' of the progress of the recruitment program and suggested that Acting City Manager, Glenn Kendall, attend the meeting of the American Society of Planning Officials in San Francisco to interview prospective candidates. It was moved by Councilman Peavey, seconded by Councilman Temple and unanimous- ly carried that Council authorize Acting City Manager Glenn Kendall to attend the meeting of the American Society of Planning Officials in San Francisco. AYES: 4 COUNCILMEN: Dunnum, Peavey, Temple, Stamps. NOES: 0 ABSENT: 1 COUNCILMAN: Giddings. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6:10 P.M. n r City Cl rk h
