GREEN TASK FORCE – REGULAR MEETING
Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Sales Building Conference Room

CALL TO ORDER:
12:15 P.M.
ROLL CALL:
Chair Guerra, Vice Chair Marquez, Nancy Swenson, Bob Ciatti, Robert
Rubio, Lars Clutterham, Tom Davidson. Absent: Janet Molinaro
MEMBER WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS:
The Green Task Force members introduced themselves, along with those in attendance
from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company: Mike Finn, Operations Manager of
Maintenance; Dan Pruitt, Plant Manager; and Bob Phillips, Public Relations.
1. DISCUSS AND ADOPT GREEN TASK FORCE MISSION STATEMENT
Chairman Guerra distributed copies of a preliminary Mission Statement and Goals for
review and discussion by the Green Task Force.
The following points for the Mission Statement were submitted by Chairman Guerra and
additional suggestions were made as follows (in bold):

Improve the public’s knowledge and business community’s knowledge of
environmental topics and how their participation helps everyone
●
Encourage practices to protect the environment, our city and the public’s health
●
Address community environmental concerns and potential solutions and advise
the City council on possible courses of action
●
Focus on immediate and long-term solutions for conservation, sustainability
and education.
Robert Rubio entertained a motion to accept the modifications to the Mission statement
as discussed; seconded by Lars Clutterham. All in favor.
2. DISCUSS AND ESTABLISH GREEN TASK FORCE GOALS
Discussion on the General Goals for the Green Task Force was held. Additional
informational sheets on recycling practices were distributed by the City and Coca-Cola
representatives.
The following points for the Goals were submitted by Chairman Guerra and additional
suggestions were made as follows (in bold):

Adopt sustainability and conservation as a Core Value
●
Support comprehensive public education effort
●
Review of all city departments and energy and environmental issues and
prospects.
●
Encourage and facilitate behavioral transformation through public
education, and leading by example. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respect.
Robert Rubio entertained a motion to accept the modifications to the General Goals as
discussed; seconded by Lars Clutterham. All in favor.
NEXT MEETING: Tues., June 2, 2009 – 12:00 p.m.
It was clarified that the City Council approved the Green Task Force to serve for a one
year period. Members decided that future meetings would be held once a month, on
the first Tuesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held at the
Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Sales Building Conference Room. Future meeting
locations to be determined.
