HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6736 RESOLUTION NO. 6736 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF DOWNEY APPROVING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN FOR THE CITY. WHEREAS, the Federal Government funds disaster relief, recovery and some hazard mitigation through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (Public Law 106 -390) reinforces the importance of mitigation planning including pre- disaster and post- disaster efforts; and WHEREAS, the City of Downey is required to develop a hazard mitigation plan to comply with Public Law 106 -390 and to do so before applying for FEMA funding; and WHEREAS, the City, as required by the Public Law, will coordinate the efforts of City departments, community organizations, and the school district to complete a hazard mitigation plan for submittal to the State for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. To approve the development of a hazard mitigation plan. SECTION 2. To authorize the City Manager to execute agreements and requests for payment as necessary to complete the plan. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
