HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6726 RESOLUTION NO. 6726 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY AMENDING THE CITY'S RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM TO INCLUDE APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN POLICE DEPARTMENT MOBILE IN -CAR VIDEO SYSTEM RECORDINGS AFTER ONE YEAR WHEREAS, in 1998 the City Council of the City of Downey adopted a citywide Records Management Program establishing a minimum two -year time period that public records must be kept; and WHEREAS, after the adoption of the citywide Records Management Program, the Downey Police Department began using mobile in -car video systems to record enforcement related and non- criminal incidents; and WHEREAS, Section 34090.6 of the California Government Code authorizes the destruction of mobile in -car video recordings after one year; and WHEREAS, the Downey Police Department wishes to comply with Section 34090.6 of the California Government Code to efficiently manage the destruction of their mobile in -car video recordings. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. As authorized by California Government Code Section 34090.6, the City Council of the City of Downey hereby amends the City's Records Management Program to include authorization and approval for the perpetual destruction of Police Department mobile in -car video recordings after retention for a period of one year. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of December, 2003. q, ( t" 1 K1' 0.
