A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF
TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
APPLICATIONS FOR THE MTA 2000 ABBREVIATED CALL
FOR PROJECTS
WHEREAS, AB 1012 created an Advanced Project Delivery Development Element
(APDE) of the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to allow for development of a
transportation project "shelf list "; and
WHEREAS, the California Transportation Commission has adopted an AB 1012 year 2000-
2004 fund estimate for the MTA of $65.7 million; and
WHEREAS, surplus revenue in the range of $100 and $200 million is anticipated for the
2000 STIP; and
WHEREAS, the MTA is conducting an abbreviated Call for Projects in order to program
the AB 1012 funds and 2000 STIP surplus funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Downey desires to construct roadway improvements for Lakewood
Boulevard, Firestone Boulevard, and Florence Avenue Bridge (at San Gabriel River); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the guidelines established by the MTA, each City must submit to
the MTA an application for each modal category of each project;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. To approve the submittal of the following six project applications for the
MTA 2000 Call for Projects:
• Lakewood Boulevard Roadway and Intersection Widening;
• Lakewood Boulevard Signal Interconnect — fiber optic communication system;
• Firestone Boulevard Roadway and Intersection Widening;
• Firestone Boulevard Signal Interconnect — fiber optic communication system;
• Florence Avenue Bridge Widening at San Gabriel River Crossing — AB 1012 plans,
specifications and estimates (PS &E); and
• Florence Avenue Bridge Widening at San Gabriel River Crossing — STIP capital
improvements.
SECTION 2. To designate the Director of Public Works as the City's authorized
representative and contact person.

SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
