A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOW N EY ,
CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
LOS ANGELES TO APPROVE THE INCLUSION OF A DOWNEY CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT
IN THE DOWNEY GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE
PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 1994, PURSUANT TO
SECTION 23300 ET SEQ. OF THE CALIFORNIA ELECTIONS CODE
WHEREAS, under the provisions of City of Downey Charter Section 1300, a
regular municipal election on Tuesday, June 7, 1994, has been called by
Resolution No. 5752, adopted on January 11, 1994; and
WHEREAS, City of Downey Charter Section 1300 directs that the General
Municipal Election of the City of Downey be held on the same day, and is in
part of the same territory, as the Statewide Direct Primary Election; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section No. 23300; et seq., of the
California Elections Code, the City Council of the City of Downey adopted
Resolution No. 5753 on Janauary 11, 1994, requesting the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Los Angeles to consolidate the City of Downey General
Municipal Election with the Statewide Direct Primary Election to be held on
June 7, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey also desires to submit to
the voters at the election one proposed Charter Amendment relating to change
in City election date pursuant to Resolution No. 5765.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA, DOES
RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23300 et seq. of
the California Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to the inclusion of
a proposed Charter Amendment with the City of Downey General Municipal
Election to be consolidated with the Statewide Direct Primary Election on
Tuesday, the 7th day of June, 1994.
SECTION 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue
instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all steps necessary
for holding said consolidated election.
SECTION 3. The Registrar of Voters is hereby authorized to canvass the
returns of said election.
SECTION 4. The City of Downey recognizes that additional costs will be
incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse
the County for such costs.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk of the City of Downey is hereby directed
to file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and
the Registrar of Voters of the County of Los Angeles.

SECTION b That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this Resolution.
