HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5775 RESOLUTION NO. 5775 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY ESTABLISHING SALARY ADJUSTMENTS FOR NON -SWORN MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES AND AMENDING THE MANAGEMENT BENEFIT PLAN WHEREAS, City Council Resolution No. 5290, the Management Performance/ Compensation Plan, states that cost -of- living adjustments granted to management classifications will be no less than that granted to the rank and file employees in the respective department; and WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized cost -of- living adjustments to classified employees in the Public Works, Community Development, Community Services, Administrative Services Department, and Fire Department. WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide consideration to non - safety management employees in all City departments and the City Manager, City Clerk and Police Chief. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1 The following salary adjustments shall be authorized for eligible employees: 3% effective on July 1, 1994. SECTION 2. Each eligible employee will receive 62.4 hours added to their vacation accrual balance. An employee may request a vacation payoff of 62.4 hours provided they do so by June 30, 1994. SECTION 3. The Management and Confidential /Exempt Benefits Plan is hereby amended as follows: a. "Section 12. Bilingual Pay. Employees required to speak or translate ..� Spanish as part of their regular duties will be compensated $23.08 per bi- weekly pay period in addition to their regular salary. The City Manager has the authority and discretion to assign and /or remove this bonus up to budget authority. To be eligible for this assignment, the employee must pass a conversational examination administered by a court certified interpreter, or an employee who has been appointed by the Personnel Director to administer such examination. The employee must recertify at least every eighteen (18) months to maintain the eligibility." b. "Section 13. Assistant Fire Chief /Fire Marshal. The Fire Chief shall have the authority and discretion to designate and /or remove any Fire Battalion Chief as the Assistant Fire Chief /Fire Marshal. The intent is to rotate this assignment among Battalion Chiefs on a regular basis. Only one Battalion Chief may be so designated. The Chief will also have the authority to establish job requirements and duties for this assignment. A Fire Battalion Chief designated and assigned to this assignment shall receive 5 1/2% per month as additional compensation above their regular scheduled rate of pay while being assigned as the Assistant Fire Chief /Fire Marshal." 0 RESOLUTION NO. 5775 Page 2 c. "Section 5.A.2., last paragraph: "The City agrees that the employee who is qualified to withdraw shall receive $81 per month for single coverage, $162 per month for employee plus one coverage and $229 per month for family coverage." SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and provide for the appropriate distribution thereof.
