HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4805 RESOLUTION NO. 4605 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DENYING AN AMENDMENT TO THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY (GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT 86 -2) WHEREAS, the City Planning Division and the City Planning Commission reviewed and revised the General Plan adopted by the City Council on the 8th day of January, 1973, and subsequently prepared proposed General Plan Amendment Report 86 -2, and did all those things legally and technically required by law to develop a report and map adequate in scope and authority to serve the purpose of a General Plan; and WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission gave required notice and did hold a public hearing on July 2, 1986, for the purpose of considering the adoption of said proposed General Plan Amendment 86 -2; and WHEREAS, the subject amendment proposes to change the Land Use designation of properties located at 9200 and 9204 Florence Avenue from Low Density Residential to Medium Density Residential; said properties described below: Assessor's Parcel Numbers: 6285 -4 -23 and 24 WHEREAS, following said public hearing, the City Planning Commission gave further careful consideration to testimony and all facts and opinions offered at the aforesaid public hearing. WHEREAS, at a meeting held July 2, 1986, the Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 945 recommending denial of a General Plan Amendment to the City's General Plan to the City Council of the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on September 23, 1986 before the City Council relative to the recommended action on said amendment; and WHEREAS, a notice of said public hearing was duly given in the manner provided by law; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds the proposed General Plan Amendment will not promote community objectives and serve to promote the general health, safety, convenience and welfare of the citizens of the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, the environmental impact of the proposed project has been reviewed and has been certified to be in compliance with the California Environmental Qualty Act (C.E.Q.A.) and the City's Guidelines, and a Negative Declaration was published on June 12, 1986. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby deny an amendment to the City's General Plan Land Use designation for 9200 and 9204 Florence Avenue and to continue the existing land use designation of Low Density Residential on said properties.
