A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DOWNEY AUTHORIZING COST -OF- LIVING SALARY
ADJUSTMENTS FOR EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT, MIDDLE
MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL /EXEMPT EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, City Council Resolution No. 4352, the Management Performance/
Compensation Plan, states that cost -of- living adjustments granted to
management classifications will be no less than that granted to the
predominant recognized bargaining unit in the department to which the
management employee is assigned; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has granted cost -of- living adjustments to
classified employees as a result of the meet and confer process; and
WHEREAS, it is the City Council's desire to provide consideration to
employees in Executive Management, Middle Management and Confidential /Exempt
classifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The current Memorandum of Understanding between the City of
Downey and the Downey Firemen's Association provides for the following salary
adjustments:
4.7% effective on July 1, 1985
4.5% effective on June 30, 1986
The following scheduled adjustments shall be provided to the management
classifications of Fire Chief, Fire Battalion Chief and Fire Marshal.

4.7% effective on July 1, 1985
5.0% effective on June 30, 1986
SECTION 2. The current Memorandum of Understanding between the City of
Downey and California Teamsters Public, Professional and Medical Employees
Union, Local 911, provides for the following salary adjustments:
4.5% effective on July 1, 1985
4.8% effective on June 30, 1986
The management classifications of Director of Public Works,
Superintendent of Physical Services, Superintendent of Water and Sanitation
and Equipment Maintenance Manager are provided with the following cost -of-
living salary adjustments:
4.5% effective on July 1, 1985
5.0% effective on June 30, 1986
SECTION 3. The predominant bargaining unit for general service employees
has not come to agreement with the City of Downey on the subject of cost -of-
living adjustments. Therefore, the following salary adjustments will be
provided to the management and Confidential /Exempt classifications listed
below:
4.5% effective on July 1, 1985
5.0% effective on June 30, 1986
Director of Administrative Services
Director of Community Development
Director of Community Services
Assistant to the City Manager
Building Official
City Engineer
City Librarian
City Planner

Data Processing Manager
Deputy City Clerk- Treasurer
Finance Division Manager
Housing Manager
Personnel Director
Purchasing Manager
Recreation Division Manager
Redevelopment Manager
Social Services Division Manager
Theatre Manager

Secretary to the City Council
Secretary to the City Manager
Secretary to the Chief of Police
SECTION 4. The predominant bargaining unit for sworn police employees
has not come to agreement with the City of Downey on the subject of cost -of-
living adjustments. Therefore, the following salary adjustments will be
provided to the management classifications of Chief of Police, Police Captain
and Technical Services Manager.
6.0% effective on July 1, 1985
5.0% effective on June 30, 1986
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and provide for the distribution thereof.
