HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4500 Resolution No. 4500 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE 1985 RATE INCREASE REQUEST SUBMITTED BY GENERAL TELEPHONE COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA TO THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 4491 WHEREAS, General Telephone Company of California filed, on October 1, 1984, a request with the California Public Utilities Commission to impose a $90 million surcharge on customers in 1985; and WHEREAS, if fully approved by the Public Utilities Commission, the surcharge would increase the City's cost of doing business by raising the City's telephone expenses by 6.6% per month. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by Downey City Council that: SECTION 1. The City Council opposes the most recent rate request submitted by General Telephone Company of California and urges the Public Utilities Commission to reject it. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Public Utilities Commission, Governor Deukmejian, Senator Paul Carpenter and Assemblymember Wayne Grisham. SECTION 3. Resolution 4491 is hereby repealed. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of December, 196'. Randall R.
