A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
AUTHORIZING COST -OF- LIVING SALARY ADJUSTMENTS FOR EXECUTIVE
AND MIDDLE MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES IN THE AMOUNTS WHICH HAVE
BEEN AUTHORIZED FOR CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES IN THE EXISTING
MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING.
WHEREAS, the Memoranda of Understanding currently in effect for employees
in the classified service provide for periodic cost -of- living increases
through April of 1985; and
WHEREAS, it is the City Council's desire to provide equal consideration
to the Executive and Middle Management personnel; and
WHEREAS, City Council Resolution No. 4352 states that the amount of
cost -of- living adjustments granted to the management classifications will be
no less than that granted to the predominant recognized bargaining unit in
the department to which the management position is assigned.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. As provided in the Memorandum of Understanding in effect
between the City of Downey and the Downey Police Officer's Association,
cost -of- living salary range adjustments are scheduled as follows:
3% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in July 1984.
4% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in April 1985.
The above scheduled cost -of- living adjustments shall also be provided to
the classifications of Chief of Police, Police Captain and Technical Services
Manager.
SECTION 2. As provided in the Memorandum of Understanding in effect
between the City of Downey and the Downey Firemen's Association, cost -of- living
salary range adjustments are scheduled as follows:
3% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in April 1984.
3% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in July 1984.
3% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in April 1985.
The above scheduled cost -of- living adjustments shall also be provided to the
classifications of Fire Chief and Fire Battalion Chief.
SECTION 3. As provided in the Memoranda of Understanding in effect
between the City of Downey and the Downey City Employee's Association and the
California Teamsters Public, Professional and Medical Employees Union, Local
911, cost -of- living salary range adjustments are scheduled as follows:
3% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in July 1984.
2% effective on the beginning of the first pay period in January 1985.
The above scheduled cost -of- living adjustments shall also be provided to the
following classifications:
Director of Administrative Services
Director of Community Development
Director of Community Services
Director of Public Works
Assistant to the City Manager
Building Official
City Engineer /Deputy Director of Public Works
City Librarian
City Planner
Data Processing Manager
Finance Division Manager
Housing Coordinator
Personnel Director

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and provide for the appropriate distribution thereof.
