HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3980 RESOLUTION NO.3980 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY IN FAVOR OF THE NEW COURTHOUSE FOR THE DOWNEY JUDICIAL DISTRICT BEING CONSTRUCTED IN THE CENTRAL AREA OF DOWNEY IN PROXIMITY TO THE CIVIC CENTER COMPLEX AND NOT AT A SUGGESTED SITE AT RANCHO LOS AMIGOS WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1408 has been passed by the Legislature of the State of California and signed by the Governor to provide funds for the construction of a new Courthouse for the Downey Judicial District; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County has authorized the Chief Administrative Officer and the County Engineer to proceed with steps to plan courthouse facilities, including a new building for Municipal Court of Downey Judicial District; and WHEREAS, the City of Downey hap undertaken plans for the immediate con- struction of a new civic center complex including a City Hall and Police facilities building in the central area of Downey; and WHEREAS, the Courthouse of the Downey Judicial District has been situated in the central business area at Downey, California, since the in- ception of said judicial district; and a substantial number of professional offices have been established in the central area of Downey to be in proximity to the Courthouse. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That it would be in the best interests of the citizens of Downey Judicial District that the new Courthouse for said judicial district be constructed in the central area of Downey in proximity to the Civic Center complex and not at a suggested site at Rancho Los Amigos. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and provide for appropriate distribution thereof. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of June, 1981. ATTEST: Milton R.
