FRANK COLLINS ON HIS 18TH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH WHEREAS, the Calvary Baptist Church of B e l l f l o w e r will honor its pastor, H. FRANK COLLINS, D.D.; Litt. D., on the occasion of his 18th year as minister of the church on June 21, 1981 at a unified service at 9:45 a.m.; and WHEREAS, Pastor Collins has held previous pastorates in Indiana and South Carolina, and served as assistant to the president of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri before coming to Calvary Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, Dr. Collins studied at Franklin College of Indiana and Northern Seminary in Chicago and holds degrees from Bob Jones Uni- versity in Greenville, South Carolina and California Graduate School - of Theology in Glendale, California; and WHEREAS, Dr. Collins came to this pastorate in 1963 when the attendance • averaged about 375. Today's membership numbers above 3,000 and attend- ance averages over 1500 each Sunday; and WHEREAS, "Meetin' Time at Calvary ", the church's outreach TV ministry is heard locally on Channel 9 each Sunday morning at 8 :30 and is carried on Cable TV throughout the western states; and WHEREAS, during the 18 years Dr. Collins has been pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, 16 adjoining properties have been purchased and added to the church's existing properties making a total of almost six acres in the heavily populated Clark Avenue and Rosecrans section of Bellflower; and WHEREAS, in addition to the large auditorium seating 1500, there are four other buildings housing the educational and social activities of the church and the general office. The church property and plant is now appraised at approximately $4,000,000; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That this City Council extends its congratulations and commendation to Dr. H. Frank Collins on his 18th anniversary as Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church. SECTION 2.
