A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
REAFFIRMING ITS POSITION ON THE ROUTE 1 -105 FREEWAY IN
THE CITY OF DOWNEY AND SUPPORTING GOVERNOR EDMUND G.
BROWN, JR., IN HIS APPEAL FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE
FREEWAY AS ORIGINALLY PLANNED
_-- WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey approved the
Freeway Agreement on the Route 1 -105 Freeway, the Performance
Agreement on the Route I -105 Freeway as modified, and a Landscape
Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Freeway Agreement on the I -105 Freeway contains
Exhibit A known as the "Freeway in the City of Downey" indicating
freeway lanes and ramps, local road improvements by the State,
road closures, and terminus construction as necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council still favors the construction
of the Route I -105 Freeway in its original design as proposed on
October 13, 1971, and will not execute a new Freeway Agreement if
the present eight -lane and transit way design is to be reduced in
any way.
SECTION 2. The City Council supports Governor Edmund G. Brown,
Jr., in his appeal for construction of the Route I -105 Freeway in
its original design.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution and provide for appropriate distribution thereof.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted
by the City Council of the City of Downey at an adjourned regular
meeting thereof held on the 14th day of May, 1981, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: 4 Council Members: Swearingen, Quinn, Cormack, Mackaig
NOES: 0 Council Members: None
ABSENT: 1 Council Members: Jackman 7'
