A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY HONORING ASSEMBLYMAN BRUCE YOUNG IN
APPRECIATION FOR HIS EFFORTS TOWARD THE PROMOTION
AND ADVANCEMENT OF SCOUTING IN OUR COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, Scouting was founded in 1907 by Sir Baden
Powell in Great Britain; and
WHEREAS, William D. Boyce started Scouting in the United
States of America on February 8, 1910; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of Scouting is to promote the build-
ing of good character, a knowledge of rights and responsibilities,
service to others, good citizenship, community leadership, love of
God and Country; and
WHEREAS, the future of Scouting depends upon those citizens
who devote time and interest to this worthy program;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That this City Council extends its appre-
ciation and commendation to Bruce W. Young who, as an elected leader,
finds time in his busy schedule to assist in the progress of the
Scouting Organization.
-- SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of April, 1981.

adopted by the City Council of the City of Downey at a regular meet-
